Urea
formaldehyde (UF) is a cost-effective thermosetting resin that is
widely used in the wood product industry. In the laboratory,urea
formaldehyde resins are prepared by using urea with formaldehyde in
an alkaline or neutral medium to produce dimethylol urea, which
then undergoes polycondensation, a chemical process that produce a
polymer,when heated in an acidic medium.

Urea formaldehyde resin cure easily and are scratch resistant. They are mainly used in adhesives, finishes,particle board, MDF and molded objects. UF and related amino resins are considered a class of thermosetting resins of which urea-formaldehyde resins make up *0% globally.
